Enhanced Hatha | April 25, 2:00pm HKT with Coach Anya Arguelles
About the class:
Duration: 60 minutes
Difficulty level: Beginner
What you'll need: Yoga mat, towel, water, comfortable clothing
This style of yoga emphasizes the breath and the foundation of each pose to economically restore normal biomechanical patterns and prevent injury.
This is recommended for students who feel some tightness on their body, would like to start with easier movements or modifications and still feel the burn through their practice. The class will begin with a short grounding practice or guided meditation, followed by a practice on engaging dynamic neuromuscular stabilization (DNS) breathing before beginning with the asanas (postures).
The asanas (postures) are broken down in this class and are held for several breaths. This allows time for the students to be aware of their body, do necessary adjustments as they breath to either get deeper into the pose or get into an easier modification that is accessible to their current condition.
The Sun Salutation is not the same as the traditional style. The sequences may be repeated a couple of times for the students to move with their breath as they sync with the movement through repetition.
The aim of this practice is to increase awareness through movements that emphasizes on stability, regulate the breath and find relaxation towards the end of the practice.
This is best practiced with an empty stomach or at least having the last meal taken an hour prior to taking this class.
It is important to note that Yoga has many types and the practice shall depend on the need and condition of the student. For this particular practice (Enhanced Hatha), which focuses more on the physical aspect of Yoga, students with certain medical condition must consult with their doctor and also inform/reach out to the teacher to discuss whether this type of Yoga is suitable for them.
